Sedgwick Andrews and Kennedy Building, a historic downtown structure is now known as City Hall Commons – which is the annex to Syracuse City Hall, is housing many offices for city departments and is also an RSA project of character. Here Robertson Strong Apgar Architects brought back the early 20th century glory of the building and added a new greenhouse atrium for use for meetings, public events, dining and gathering.
Exterior renovation was extensive to this highly detailed building which had been neglected for over two decades. Masonry needed replacement, metal panels needed to be replaced with matching elements and all windows had to be rebuilt or replaced. Entirely new mechanical/electrical plumbing systems had to be added throughout the structure.
